The Skein-Kin · The Standing Thirds

The Faithful Chain

Its glyph isn't drawn by hand. It's bred from its parents' fractal rules.

A fusion of Answering For and Watering Another, sharing a person. A figure’s tier is what it’s made of, not a rank it was given.

Tending. Each learner copies the teacher more closely and passes on more of the steps, even the ones no one can explain..

Fraying. Each learner copies less closely and passes fewer of the steps on, so the set changes or thins along the chain..

Its Turning. Tend. What it builds: skill compounds with its lineage intact.

Catalogued in The Skein-Kin, alongside every other figure at this scale.

In a Weaving

Tending

Each learner copies more closely and passes on more steps, even ones no one can explain.

Fraying

Each learner copies less closely and passes on fewer steps, and the craft changes along the way.

Tending is not good news, and Fraying is not bad news — a card describes a pattern already present, never an outcome. How to read the two.

A Standing Third

One person keeps supplying what the other needs to know. Expertise given generously, or help that stops them ever developing their own.

A Standing Third

Watering Another

Attention that keeps returning to someone, and grows what it lands on. It can grow the best in them, or whatever you've already decided they are.

A Standing Third

The Received World

What a culture hands down without the reasons attached. Knowledge that works without needing explaining, or practice hollowed of why it ever existed.

Part Five — The Standing Thirds

Eleven group patterns, each built from two Dyad-Kin that share a person — the mechanism by which a group becomes a thing rather than a list.

Part Seven — The Turnings

The Eleven Gatherings — Skein

Monthly, in a room, with the people who actually show up — eleven occasions, each built to catch one specific way a group quietly goes wrong.

Part Six — Weavings

The full working deck: fifty-two drawable figures across five kinships, each carrying two readings — plus one figure that's never drawn at all.

Part Five — The Standing Thirds

The Culture-Kin

Seven patterns slow enough that no single life sees one full turn — and, by the catalogue's own admission, its most provisional tier.
