The Standing Account

Its glyph isn't drawn by hand. It's bred from its parents' fractal rules.

A fusion of Proxy Detachment and The Long Cycle, sharing a Skein-Kin. A figure’s tier is what it’s made of, not a rank it was given.

Tending. A people count and track themselves more closely, and steer more firmly by what the counts show..

Fraying. The counts track less closely, and steering by them grows looser and drifts..

Catalogued in The World-Kin, alongside every other figure at this scale.

Tending

A people is counting itself more closely, and steering by the counts more firmly.

Fraying

The counts track less closely, and steering by them is growing looser.

Tending is not good news, and Fraying is not bad news — a card describes a pattern already present, never an outcome. How to read the two.

A Standing Third
Proxy Detachment
A measure standing in for something too large to see directly. It makes a vast system legible, until it is optimized so hard it stops tracking what it measured.
A Standing Third
The Long Cycle
Growth that compounds across generations. It builds for a long time, and past a threshold the same mechanism consumes what it built.
Part Five — The Standing Thirds
The World-Kin
Three figures, and only three, derived rather than chosen: two Culture-Kin sharing a Skein-Kin. The last tier where a push still reaches.
Part Six — Weavings
The Deck
The full working deck: fifty-two drawable figures across five kinships, each carrying two readings — plus one figure that's never drawn at all.
