Concept

Open and closed boundaries

A closed boundary (judged by external behavior, not internal accuracy) is not a lesser Word — it's often the correct one, and the elegance test applies directly: the right boundary gives the most correct prediction for the least internal machinery the purpose actually needs. A closed boundary corrodes into a Label only once it's kept past the point it stops predicting anything, or kept unopened once a genuinely different purpose needs what's inside. The same act, in different language, as naming a scale.
